The Hessian State Chancellery

The duties of the Hessian State Chancellery are derived out of the activities of the state government and the Minister President

The Chancellery is led by State Minister Axel Wintermeyer. State Minister Lucia Puttrich and State Secretary of European Affairs Mark Weinmeister are responsible for the European Affairs.

The Hessian State Chancellery has nine departments, one of which is the Department for European and International Affairs as well as the Hessian Representation at the European Union as unassisted department.

The Department for European and International Affairs formulates the fundaments of the Hessian European politics and is responsible for the connections to the European institutions and partner regions.

The Hessian State Representation in Brussels mediates contacts to the European institutions and serves as a show case for Hessen, its communities, its enterprises, and its research and other institutions. Contact to international partners can be established and maintained through the European Department. Through the newsletter “Bericht aus Brüssel” the Hessian Representation regularly informs its readers about new and interesting developments in the EU.
